EXCEPTIONAL INCOME
LRLTs typically charge between $200-$250 per student per month, with 1-3 students per 30-minute session, twice per week. Therefore, 4 hours of work per week could bring in $3000 per month. (Should you pursue certification, you could charge more.)

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a degree or special training to be a licensed Learn Reading tutor or screener?
You do not need a degree or specific education to tutor or screen for dyslexia. The Learn Reading lessons come with all the training necessary to be a successful tutor. The book, "Is It Dyslexia?" will provide all the training and materials necessary to be a successful screener.
Will you provide me with students?
Licensed tutors and screeners will have their name, picture and contact info on the Learn Reading website for free, constant advertising, however there is no guarantee that parents will choose to employ you as a tutor. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the tutor or screener to acquire their own students. Being a LICENSED LEARN READING TUTOR will increase your value and desirability as a reading tutor.
Do I have to charge at least $200/month?
As a Learn Reading Licensed Tutor, you will have your own private practice and set your own rates. However, it is recommended that LRLTs charge between $200-$250/month per student to start, to maintain the value of Learn Reading Licensed Tutors. Tutors who ALSO decide to pursue certification, typically charge more. Licensed dyslexia screeners typically charge between $300-450 per screening.
Can I be BOTH a licensed tutor and a licensed screener with just ONE license?
Yes! You only need one Learn Reading license to be both a tutor and a screener! In fact, it is recommended that if you have a license you pursue both professions. You will have the knowledge that many parents are looking for as a screener, plus the skills and expertise to tutor the student if they are dyslexic.
What is a CERTIFIED tutor?
Licensed tutors who have taken at least 1 student all the way through level 1, are free to pursue certification. This adds more value to their resume and certified tutors typically charge more than licensed-only tutors. Certified tutors are also listed at the top of the 'Find-a-Tutor' page on the LearnReading.com website. Certification requires an assessment and a personal interview with April McMurtrey. How do I get students?
You should expect some inquiries from the Learn Reading website, but the bulk of your students will come from your own personal advertising including word-of-mouth, social media postings, flyers, presentations, etc... It may take a few months to acquire your clientele, but many tutors are consistently full and have a wait list.
