Tutors who are ALREADY LICENSED and have TAKEN 1 STUDENT THROUGH LEVEL 1 of the Learn Reading lessons, may apply to become certified.
What Is a Learn Reading Certified Tutor? (LRCT)
CERTIFIED
An LRCT is licensed AND certified to use the Learn Reading lessons professionally. They have completed an assessment and have been personally interviewed by April McMurtrey. They are recommended by Learn Reading as experienced tutors, adept at using the Learn Reading lessons.
COACHING AND SUPPORT
All LRCTs have immediate access to a private Slack channel where you can ask April McMurtrey and/or or her tutoring team for advice and personal guidance. You will receive support for setting up your private practice and all along your tutoring journey.
FREE, UNLIMITED ADVERTISING
An LRCT receives their name, picture, email and phone number listed directly on the Learn Reading website - which has more than 150K social media followers - for free and constant referral opportunities.
EXCEPTIONAL INCOME
LRCTs charge at LEAST $250 per student per month, with 1-3 students per 30-minute session, twice per week. Therefore, 4 hours of work per WEEK would bring in at LEAST $6000 PER MONTH.
Important Bonus:
Once certified, tutors may enroll in the Tutor Match Program if desired. This program will help you to fill your open tutoring time slots.
CERTIFICATION PROCESS:
Assessment (Quiz):
Applicants will be taken to an online assessment to show what they have learned about tutoring using the Learn Reading lessons.
Questions on the quiz include information about the McMurtrey Method, the 'Tap 2' rule, phonemic awareness, etc...
Applicants are free to study before they complete the assessment and the assessment may be taken more than once.
Interview:
Upon a successful completion of the assessment, applicants will be taken to a scheduling page where they can schedule an interview with April McMurtrey.
In the interview, April will go through one of the Learn Reading lessons together with the applicant being the teacher and April being the student.
April will answer questions and give the newly certified tutor the support they need to be a successful tutor.

- Learn Reading lessons are designed specifically for struggling, dyslexic, or emerging readers, ages 5-105.
- Each lesson is 10 pages long and takes approximately an hour to complete on average.
